The problem I have been having is that using output=overlay provides proper scaling but gives pretty poor performance. Currently I'm using dosbox-svn for all my games. It's usable for undemanding titles but for late release dos titles it's not really up to the task. Simply press the shortcut F11+F on Windows, or F12+F on Linux and macOS, and DOSBox-X will become full-screen. I must have been mistaken about dosbox-sdl2, I cannot get decent performance using it.
